About Updates

The Updates functionality enables producers to manage targeted product releases for their customer accounts.

With this functionality, producers are able to provide:

•

security patches to keep devices up to date and reduce security risk,

•

in-product updates to applications (2018 R2 and later versions),

•

entitlement-driven updates to help prevent revenue loss by ensuring only those with valid entitlements get updates. (Entitlement checks can be disabled to deliver vital security patches.)

End users can keep up to date with automated security patches without having to manually download them from a portal, reducing security exposure. They will have access to updates on a per-platform basis, including custom platforms defined by the producer.

Updates are requested and delivered using a set of provided REST APIs.
