Restricting a Download Package
You can restrict access to a download package in the Producer Portal. You can set up restrictions to:
• | deny or allow access to a download package for one or more specified accounts |
• | allow access to a download package only for accounts from a specified geographical location (country or region). |
Download packages are not restricted by default.
Note:You can only restrict access to download packages associated with files. Access to download packages associated with containerized applications cannot be restricted.
Note:When no accounts are listed on a download package’s Restrict Download Package page, access to the download package is not restricted. See About Download Package Restrictions for more information about how the restriction process works.
Restricting Access Based on Account
When you restrict access to a download package, you use a search function to locate and identify the account to which you want to permit or deny download package access. Accounts can be added to the Account(s) Restricted to Download Package list one at a time.
To set download package restrictions for specific accounts
1. | On the View Download Package page, click Edit > Restrict. This link opens the Restrict Download Package page. |
2. | Locate the Grant Access to Accounts section (by clicking the Grant or Deny Access to Accounts link or scrolling down to the section). |
3. | Type search criteria and click Search Accounts. The Producer Portal opens the Find an Account page in a pop-up window. This page shows a list of accounts that match your search criteria. |
4. | On the Find an Account page, click Restrict Allow or Restrict Deny for an account. |
• | If you choose Restrict Allow, only the accounts you choose are permitted to access the download package. |
• | If you choose Restrict Deny, the accounts you choose are expressly denied access to the download package. |
The Producer Portal closes the Find an Account window and returns to the Restrict Download Package page.
The Restrict Download Package page shows the account you chose in the Account(s) Restricted to Download Package list.
Repeat the steps above for any additional accounts for which you want to restrict access. Any other accounts you add to the restrictions list must follow the choice (Restrict Allow/Restrict Deny) you made for the first account.
Tip:To remove an account from the Accounts Restricted to Package list, select the account’s check box in the Remove this Account column and then click Remove Selected Accounts.
Restricting Access Based on Geographical Location
Restrictions are based on the country and region specified in the account that the end-user is associated with. You provide geographical information on an account’s Create An Account page, in the Country and Region fields. For more information, see Creating a New Account.
To set download package restrictions based on geographical location
1. | On the View Download Package page, click Edit > Restrict. This link opens the Restrict Download Package page. |
2. | Locate the Restrict Access to Selected Countries section (by clicking the Restrict Access to Selected Countries link or scrolling down to the section). |
3. | Click Add. The Producer Portal opens the Add Country page in a pop-up window. |
4. | On the Add Country page, select the countries that should have access to the download package. To add all countries in the list, select the checkbox next to the Country column header. |
Optionally, to add regions, click the + sign and type the region name. You can select up to 50 regions per country.
Important:Ensure that the names of any regions that you enter on the Add Country page match the spelling of the region names that are specified for the customer accounts.
5. | Click Select to confirm your selection and close the Add Country page. |
The Restrict Download Package page shows the countries and regions (if specified) you chose in the Restrict Access to Selected Countries list.
Tip:To remove a county or region from the Restrict Access to Selected Countries list, click the Delete icon for the country or region.
