About Download Packages

Download packages are groups of files that can be related to one or more products and tied to a producer and a product line. Optionally, a download package can be associated with a license agreement as well. The figure below depicts the relationships among download packages, download files, and products.

It is through a download package’s relationship to products that FlexNet Operations determines which download packages an end user is entitled to.

On the End-User Portal, download packages are grouped by producer and product line so that entitled users can navigate hierarchically through the producer, product line, product, and version to find the downloads they require. And when optional license agreements are associated with a download package, the End-User Portal shows the agreement before allowing end users to download files.

Download packages are also where producers specify export compliance settings that define how download delivery is controlled internationally.
