Restricting Access to Files and Download Packages
Access to individual download packages or files can be controlled by customer account. Using the Producer Portal, producers can create allowed lists or non-allowed lists of the accounts permitted to see a download package or a file in the End-User Portal. For more information, see Restricting a Download Package and Restricting a File in the Packaging Products section.
Visibility of Download Packages for Maintenance Customers
Visibility of download packages is dependent on the Maintenance Line Item expiration date. If there is no maintenance plan, the visibility is based on the expiration date of the line item. If there is a maintenance plan, the visibility is based on the expiration of the maintenance line item. The following table illustrates what is visible based on the maintenance plan in effect. The assumed current date is 1 July 2016.

Sending Email Notifications for Files and Download Packages
In the Producer Portal, producers can send email messages to end-users entitled to a file or a download package. Instructions for sending email notifications are in the sections Managing Download Packages and Managing Download Files.
Order Media Requests and Physical Distribution
For producers who want their end users to be able to request download files on physical media, the End-User Portal includes an Order Media control. Configuring the End-User Portal to handle these request requires some configuration in the Producer Portal. For more information, see About Physical Distribution and Order Media Requests in the section Packaging Products.
Making File Aliases
Aliasing a file creates a duplicate of an existing file that points to the same file image but can be managed separately. File aliases allow you to avoid uploading multiple copies of the same file image. See About Aliases in the section Packaging Products for more information about file aliases.
Export Compliance
Producers must specify export compliance settings that define how download delivery is controlled internationally. Export compliance settings are part of a download package. To learn more about export compliance settings, see About Export Compliance in the section Packaging Products.
Enabling Channel Partners to Download Files
A producer can enable a channel partner to download files, on behalf of end users, for product demonstration and support purposes.
After the product is deployed and associated with a download package, the producer creates the channel partner user, creates an entitlement line item for the product for the channel partner user’s account, and assigns an end customer user account to the entitlement.
Important:This option is limited to entitlements with end customer and channel partner user accounts. It does not work for entitlements with only channel partner users.
The channel partner user logs in to the FlexNet Operations End-User Portal with the line item’s activation ID, navigates to the List Entitlements page, and locates the entitlement in the table. From there, the file can be downloaded using the standard download procedure.
