Restricting a File
You can restrict access to a file in the Producer Portal for the users of designated accounts. Files are not restricted by default. When you restrict access to a file, you use a search function to locate and identify the account for which you want to grant or deny file access.
Note:When no accounts are listed on a file’s Restrict File page, access to the file is not restricted. See About File Restrictions for more information about how the file restriction process works.
To set file restrictions
1. | On the View File page, click Edit > Restrict. This link opens the Restrict File page. |
2. | Type search criteria and click Search Accounts. The Producer Portal opens the Find an Account page in a pop-up window. This page shows a list of accounts that match your search criteria. |
3. | On the Find an Account page, click Restrict Allow or Restrict Deny for an account. |
• | If you choose Restrict Allow, only the accounts you choose are permitted to access the file. |
• | If you choose Restrict Deny, the accounts you choose are expressly denied access to the file. |
The Producer Portal closes the Find an Account window and returns to the Restrict File page.
The Restrict File page shows the account you chose in the Accounts Restricted to File list.
Tip:To remove an account from the Accounts Restricted to File list, select the account’s check box in the Remove this Account column and then click Remove Selected Accounts.
