Making a Device Obsolete

You can make an active device obsolete from its default view for a device or server page. When a device is made obsolete, its licenses are unmapped and returned to the pool, and it becomes unable to acquire new licenses.

Important: Obsolete status is permanent. Obsolete devices cannot be re-activated.

Note: Making an auto-provisioned license server that has entitlements mapped for metered features obsolete will remove all licenses mapped to the server. However, this is not recommended, because future line items will not be mapped automatically to the auto-provisioned license server. Refer to Auto-Provisioning for more information.

To make a device obsolete

Click Edit > Make Obsolete. The Producer Portal warns that this process is irreversible and asks you to confirm before changing the current device’s status to OBSOLETE.

Click OK.

The Producer Portal changes the status of the device to OBSOLETE and shows its default view for a device or server page.
