Auto-Provisioning
License servers can be created manually or, when the license model permits auto-provisioning, automatically generated by FlexNet Operations.
When auto-provisioning is permitted, FlexNet Operations generates a new license server when an entitlement using such a license model and owned by an end customer account, is deployed. Also, line items included in the entitlement are automatically mapped to the license server.
When auto-provisioning is not permitted, producers can create the license server manually. In this scenario, the producer uses the Create License Server page to create a license server for the end customer and then manually maps the entitlement line items to that server.
The exercises in this getting started section make use of auto-provisioning in the license model to streamline license server creation and entitlement mapping.
Limitations
The following limitations exist for auto-provisioned license servers that have entitlements mapped for metered features:
• | License servers cannot be moved to another account. |
• | Only unused licenses for metered features can be removed using Licenses > Remove Licenses. |
• | License servers can be made obsolete, which will remove all licenses mapped to the server. However, this is not recommended, because future line items will not be mapped automatically to the auto-provisioned license server. |
