Mapping Entitlements by Activation IDs

Devices often include pre-installed capabilities, but also permit the addition of new features or more capacity via additional entitlements.

When the current account of a device is entitled to additional capabilities, and you know the activation IDs for those entitlements, you can manually map those entitlements to the device via the Producer Portal, as shown below. (Entitlements can also be mapped programmatically from the device or server using an activation ID.)

First locate the device or server to which you want to map new activation IDs. (See Searching for Devices or Viewing Devices for instructions.) Then you can map entitlements by activation ID from the default view for a device or server page.

On the Map by Activation IDs page, you can type the activation IDs to map to the current device.

Note:This operation is for producers who know the activation IDs for the entitlements they want to map.

To map an entitlement by activation ID

1. Click Licenses > Map by Activation IDs. The Map by Activation IDs page opens.
2. In the Activation IDs field, type one or more activation IDs (one activation ID per line) to map to the current device.
3. Click Validate. The Producer Portal evaluates the activation IDs you provided and shows whether they can be mapped to the current device.
If all activation IDs provided can be mapped to the device, proceed to Step 4.
If one or more activation IDs cannot be mapped to the device, the Producer Portal highlights the activation IDs that did not pass validation and allows you to either remove them from the list or cancel the mapping operation.
To continue without the activation IDs that failed validation, first remove the failed activation IDs and then click Re-validate. When the re-validation passes successfully, proceed to Step 4.
To cancel the mapping, click Cancel.
4. After the activation IDs have been validated, type values into Qty to Add for the entitlements you want to map.
5. Click Save.

The activation ID is mapped to the current device and its default view for a device or server page is shown.
