Deactivating and Reactivating a User

User status is displayed in the Create a User page. Both shared and non-shared users can be deactivated manually or automatically. A non-shared user can be reactivated only manually; a shared user can be reactivated manually or automatically.

Users assigned a role with the View and Manage Users permission can deactivate and reactivate all types of users manually. Users assigned roles with the View and Manage Customer Users permission or View and Manage Partner Users permission can deactivate and reactivate only customer users or partner users, respectively.

To deactivate a user manually

1. Click Accounts & Users > All Users. The Manage Users page opens.
2. In the Users list, click a user name to deactivate.
3. In the Status drop-down list, select Inactive.
4. Click Save.

A user is deactivated automatically after more incorrect consecutive login attempts than allowed. For non-shared users, the default number of consecutive failed authentications is 3; for shared users, the default number of consecutive failed authentications is 6. This number can be configured in the FlexNet Platform Server configuration (setting Consecutive Failed Authentications). When a user is deactivated automatically, the User Deactivated alert is triggered (if that alert is configured).

A deactivated non-shared user must be reactivated manually.

To reactivate a user manually

1. Click Accounts & Users > All Users. The Manage Users page opens.
2. In the Users list, click a user name to reactivate.
3. In the Status drop-down list, select Active.
4. Click Save.

A reactivated user is informed by email. Reactivation does not affect a user’s password. If the reactivated user is shared, an administrator receives the email stating that the user is reactivated.

Automatically Reactivating Shared Users

When a shared user account is deactivated due to too many failed consecutive login attempts, it can be automatically reactivated after a specified time. You can set this time in the FlexNet Platform Server configuration (setting Minutes for re-enabling a shared login after deactivation). The default is 3 minutes.

Reactivating Using Google reCAPTCHA

The Google reCAPTCHA mechanism enables a shared user whose account is locked (due to too many consecutive failed login attempts) to have their account reactivated before the timeout (set in the FlexNet Platform Server configuration) has elapsed. In this case, the login screen of the End-User Portal shows the “I’m not a robot” check box which enables the shared user to validate their account. To use Google reCAPTCHA, you need to provide the site key and the secret key in the FlexNet Platform Server configuration.
