Generating a Stop Gap License

If a customer’s license has expired and the customer has not formally renewed its entitlement, the publisher can generate a short-term stop gap license.

To generate a stop gap license because a customer has not yet renewed an expired license

1. Click Licenses > Licenses. This link opens the Support Licenses and Maintenance page.
2. Search for a fulfillment for which a stop gap license is to be generated. Search by Activation ID, Product, Sold To, Hostid, or Fulfill ID.
3. Select exactly one fulfillment ID and click Stop Gap. Generating a stop gap license does not cause the original fulfillment to be returned.
4. Enter a Ship to Email or a Ship To Mail address, if applicable.
5. By default, the Start Date of a stop gap license is the Fulfill Date of the original fulfillment. You can set a different Start Date and can set the expiration to be after a set Duration or to a specific Expiration Date.
6. No license parameters can be modified for the stop gap license. The entire count of the fulfillment is used for the stop gap license.
7. To check that the parameter values can be used to generate a valid license before actually generating a license, click Verify.
8. To generate an stop gap license certificate, click Stop Gap.
9. After a license is generated, the license text is displayed. The license text can be saved to a file on disk by clicking Save to File, or it can be sent as an email attachment by clicking Email License. The shipment history of this license can be displayed by clicking Shipment Records.

For information about the file naming conventions, see Configuring System Settings.

Stop gap fulfillments appear in the Support Licenses and Maintenance page as Support Type STOP GAP.
