Mapping a Product to a Product Line

You can assign products to product lines, which can be used to group products for search and reporting purposes. In addition, product lines can be used to define access rights to product information for users.

Note:If product lines are disabled, follow the instructions in Managing Product Lines to enable product line functionality.

To assign a product to a product line

1.

Locate the product for which you want to map a product line, and click the product to open its Create a Product page.

On the Create a Product page, navigate to the Map Product to Product Line page.

On the Map Product to Product Line page, specify the product line to be assigned to the product. Do one of the following:

Type the name of the product line.

Click the Product Line search button to search for a product line to be assigned to the product. The Select Product Line for Product window opens. Select a product line, then click OK. On the Map Product to Product Line page, the selected product line appears in the Product Line field followed by any defined product line attributes.

Click a product line, then click OK. On the Map Product to Product Line page, the selected product line appears in the Product Line field followed by any defined product line attributes.

Enter values for any required product line attributes (marked with a red asterisk). Optionally, enter values for any optional attributes.

Click Save to save the mapping, or click Next to review recently created products.

To grant a user access to a product line, link the product line to the user’s account. See Linking Product Lines to User Accounts.
