Usage Management: Viewing the Auto-Provisioned License Server

Once you deploy the entitlement, ENTL-SURVEY001, FlexNet Operations automatically generates the license server instance from which served clients in the end customer account acquire their license rights. In this exercise, you will locate the auto-provisioned license server in the Producer Portal.

To view the auto-provisioned license server

1. In the Producer Portal, click Devices > Search License Servers. The Producer Portal opens the Search License Servers page.
2. On the Search License Servers page, locate the new license server by its account name. For Account Name, type DemoCustOrg and then click Search. The Producer Portal opens the Search Server Results page.
3. On the Search Server Results page, click the license server ID for DemoCustOrg’s license server. The Producer Portal opens the View Server page.

Notice that the View Server page shows a number of important attributes of the license server. In particular, make a note of the license server ID. The license server ID, in this case 3VH8MNZESMSP, is used in the endpoint URL for that license server, where the served clients connect to make capability requests. (See Usage Management: Obtaining the License Server URL.)

Notice also, that the license server’s View Server page also shows the product licenses that are served by it. In this case, the license server includes the Example Survey line item from the ENTL-SURVEY001 entitlement. (The Example Baseline line item is not served by the license server. Instead, it is present in the entitlement to support the registration of the license server’s served clients.)

Tip:When auto-provisioning is used, you can also find a customer account’s default license server instance on customer account’s Create an Account page. There, click the license server ID link, labeled Cloud Licensing Service instance (Auto Provisioned), to open the View Server page.
