About Features

A feature represents a licensable capability defined in a software application, and is the basic building block for a product. A feature could represent any of the following:

a product consisting of one or more components
a specific version of a product
a part of a product
one or more pieces of data (restricted through the access routines)

An example of a feature would be the Add function in a calculator, or the Print function in a word processing program.
