Returning a License

The number of allowed license returns per unit time per entitlement line item can be governed by a policy on the license model or entitlement line item.

To return a license to regenerate it at a later time

1. Click Licenses > Licenses. This link opens the Support Licenses and Maintenance page.
2. Search for a fulfillment for which a license is to be returned. Search by Activation ID, Product, Sold To, Hostid, or Fulfill ID.
3. Select one fulfillment ID. Click Support Actions, and then click Return.
4. Enter a Ship to Email or a Ship To Mail address, if applicable.
5. The Return Count shows the entire fulfill count of the returned fulfillment. If you want to return only part of the original fulfill count, specify the Return Count to return.
6. The Return Overdraft Count shows the entire overdraft count of the returned fulfillment. If you want to return only part of the original overdraft count, specify the Return Overdraft Count to return.
7. Click Return to return the specified fulfillment.

When the license has been successfully returned, if the cancel policy allows it, the entitlement line item against which the license was created is credited.

When a Web register key was redeemed, a simple entitlement was created with an entitlement ID and its fulfill count. Therefore, if a license generated against a Web register key is returned, its simple entitlement line item is credited, not the original bulk entitlement.

When the license has been successfully returned, the return count entered by the user is credited for the entitlement line item against which the license was created. Therefore, if a license generated against a Web register key is returned, the return count for its simple entitlement line item is credited.

The new fulfillment generated by the return operation is displayed with the Support Type MASTER. The original returned fulfillment record is displayed in the Support Licenses page as Obsolete with support action as RETURN.
