Repairing a License

From time to time, customers may require support for license keys. Requests for support of certificate licenses are processed as repairs and involve the change of a license parameter other than a host ID.

A publisher can set policies on how many repairs are allowed on a particular line item in a given duration.

To repair a license because a customer wants to change a license parameter other than a host ID

1. Click Licenses > Licenses. This link opens the Support Licenses and Maintenance page.
2. Search for a fulfillment for which a license is to be repaired. Search by Activation ID, Product, Sold To, Hostid, or Fulfill ID.
3. Select one fulfillment ID and click Repair from the Support Actions drop-down menu.
4. Enter a Ship To Email or a Ship To Mail address, if applicable.
5. Replace the original attribute value with the one to be used for the new license. Hostid values cannot be changed with a repair. The entire count of the fulfillment is repaired.
6. To check that the parameter values can be used to generate a valid license before actually generating a license, click Verify. To generate a license certificate, click Repair.
7. After a license is generated, the license text is displayed. The license text can be saved to a file on disk by clicking Save to File or it can be sent as an email attachment by clicking Email License.

For information about the file naming conventions, see FlexNet Operations system configuration settings. The license certificate can be saved to a file on disk by clicking Save to File.

The shipment history of this license can be displayed by clicking Shipment Records.

The new fulfillment generated by the repair operation is displayed with the Support Type MASTER. The original returned fulfillment record is displayed in the Support Licenses and Maintenance page as Obsolete with support action as REPAIR.
