Using Associate Where to Copy Associations from Another File

You can use the Associate Where command to quickly build associations between a file and a number of download packages by copying the associations of one or more existing files.

When you click Associate Where, the Producer Portal shows a file search page. If you know the IDs of the files from which you want to copy associations, you can enter them manually. If not, you can search for them based on their file attributes. (You can use an asterisk as a wildcard to search for and select the files from which to copy download package associations.)

To associate a file with another file’s download packages

1. On the View File page, click Associate > Associate Where. This link opens the Associate this File to Download Packages Where Other Files Are Found page.
2. Identify the files from which to copy download package associations. Choose whether to enter file IDs, directly, or to search for files:
Enter file IDs when you already know the file IDs or system file IDs of the files from which you want to copy associations.
a. In the File IDs field, type the file IDs as a comma-separated list or enter them one per line. Note: If you enter system file IDs, remember to select the Use System IDs check box.
b. Click Associate.
Enter file search criteria if you do not know the IDs of the files you want to associate.
a. Type your search criteria into the file search fields.
b. Click Search. The Producer Portal shows a list of files that match your criteria.
c. Select the download packages to associate and click Associate to Download Packages of Selected Files.

The Producer Portal creates associations based on the download package associations of the files you identified and opens the Where File Used page for the current file. All download packages associated with the files you identified are now also associated with the current file.

Note:The Associate Where function updates all download packages that contain the files you identified.
