Update Key Concepts

An update consists of four components:

Component	Description
Overview	Status, name, ID, availability, and description. If the Entitlement check is selected, the update components will be used to verify whether a device requesting an update is authorized to receive it.
Release From	Defines the existing download package, installed on the device, that the update is intended for. More than one download package can be defined for a single update. When the Entitlement check is selected, the download package ID in the device's request for updates must match the download package specified in the update, otherwise no updates will be delivered.
Release To	Defines the download package that will be sent in the update. Only one package per platform is allowed. To define an update for multiple platforms, a separate entry must be made for each platform. When the Entitlement check is selected, the platform in the device's request for updates must match the platform specified in the update, otherwise no updates will be delivered.
Languages	The language or languages of the update. When the Entitlement check is selected, the language in the notification request must match the language in the device's request for updates, otherwise no updates will be delivered.

Anonymous devices will only receive updates when the Entitlement check is set to None. Served devices will only receive updates when the Entitlement check is set to Account or None.
