Creating a Device
In this exercise, you use the Producer Portal to create standalone devices ABCVPN5050-1 and ABCVPN5050-2 and generate VPN5050 pre-installed product license files for them.
To create standalone device ABCVPN5050-1
| 1. | Log in to the FlexNet Operations Producer Portal if you have not already done so. |
| 2. | Click Devices > Create Device. The Device | New Device page appears. |
| 3. | Enter the device’s attributes: |
| • | Device name: Type ABCVPN5050-1 |
| • | Model: Select FLX_CLIENT |
| • | ID: Select STRING and type ABCVPN5050-1 for Primary ID. |
| • | Identity: Select ABCNetworks |
| • | Account: Select BarryPhoto: |
| a. | Click the search icon next to Account. The Assign Device Owner pop-up window opens. |
| b. | On the Customers tab, search for and select BarryPhoto, then click Select. The Account window closes. On the Device page, Account is populated with device owner details. |
| c. | Click Save. The device’s default view appears. Note that Device Details lists BarryPhoto as the Account, Status is ACTIVE, and Pre-installed License Generated? is No. Model Details is The device model does not include any pre-installed licenses. Licenses is No licenses have been mapped. |
To add a VPN5050 pre-installed product to device ABCVPN5050-1
| 1. | On the device’s default view, click Edit > Edit this Device. The Edit Device page appears. |
| 2. | Under Pre-installed Product, click Add Pre-installed Product. The Add Pre-installed Product pop-up window opens. |
| 3. | Under Product Details, click By Product. In the Select Product window that opens, select product VPN5050 and click OK to close the Select Product window and populate the product name and version in the Add Pre-installed Product window. |
| 4. | In the Add Pre-installed Product window, enter the product details: |
| • | License Model: Select Embedded Counted |
| • | Start Date: Click the calendar icon, then click Today at the bottom of the calendar page that opens |
| • | Expiration: Select Specify Duration, type 1, then select Years |
| 5. | Click Add. The Edit Device page appears with VPN5050 listed under Pre-installed Product. |
| 6. | Click Save. The device’s default view page appears. Note that this device’s Status is ACTIVE but Pre-Installed License Generated? is No. |
To generate a VPN5050 pre-installed product license file for device ABCVPN5050-1
| 1. | Click Generate license file. This message appears: License file successfully generated. Under Device Details, Pre-installed License Generated? is Yes. |
| 2. | On the device’s default view, click View and select View License File from the menu. On the View License File page that appears, review the license file, which looks similar to: |

Repeat Step 1 through Step 2 of task To generate a VPN5050 pre-installed product license file for device ABCVPN5050-1 to generate a VPN5050 product license file for device ABCVPN5050-2. The license file looks similar to the device ABCVPN5050-1 license file.
