Claiming a Device and Mapping an Additional Product Entitlement

In this exercise, you claim standalone device ABCVPN5050-2 on the End-User Portal and map an additional 10 Mbps of encryption throughput to it.

To claim standalone device ABCVPN5050-2 and map the ABC VPN 5000 Encryption Throughput (10 Mbps) product entitlement to it

1. In the End-User Portal, click Activation & Entitlements > List Entitlements. The List Entitlements page for Barry Photography Studio appears.
2. Copy the activation ID for the 10MbpsVPN5000 product.
3. Click Devices > Claim and Activate. The Claim and Activate page for Barry Photography Studio appears.
4. In the Device ID field, type ABCVPN5050-2.
5. In the Activation IDs field, paste the activation ID you copied in Step 2 and click Validate. The entitlement for 10MbpsVPN5000 is listed with Available qty, Product, and Expiration details.
6. In the Qty to add field, type 1 to represent 10 Mbps of additional encryption throughput.
7. Click Save. The device’s default view appears with this message: Entitlements successfully mapped. Under Licenses, note that the Status of 10MbpsVPN5000, Version 1.0 is License not generated.
8. Click Action > Download Capability Response to generate the license. When asked if you want to open or save the binary license file, save it as <FlexNet_Embedded_install_dir>\bin\tools\ABCVPN5050-2.bin. The exact behavior varies slightly, depending on your browser and operating system.
9. On the device’s default view, click View and select View History from the menu. On the Device History page that appears, review the Time, Event, and Additional Details of each line in the list.
10. Click Devices > Devices and click the ABCVPN5050-2 link. On the device’s default view, note that the Status of the 10MbpsVPN5000 product is now License generated.
11. In the command prompt window, type and enter the command
printbin ABCVPN5050-2.bin
where ABCVPN5050-2.bin is the name of the binary license file you saved in Step 8.
12. Review the license file, which looks similar to:
