Associating a Device with a Device User

When the Device User Option is enabled, the User field is visible and a device can be associated with an end user or contact called the Device User. Associating a device with a device user allows an End-User Portal administrator to communicate with someone regarding licenses on the device.

Note:When the Device user option is enabled (not set to Off), device user is in one of these formats:

Free-form string for On with no validation – see To associate a device with a device user—no user validation
Email address link for On with validation – see To associate a device with a device user—validated user

You can associate a device with a device user from the default view for a device or server page.

To associate a device with a device user—no user validation

1. Click Edit > Edit this Device/Server. The default edit page for a device or server opens.
2. In the User field, type the device user information for the device.

To remove an associated user, clear the User field.

3. Click Save to save the change. The default view for a device or server page opens, showing the updated User.

To associate a device with a device user—validated user

1. Click Edit > Edit this Device/Server. The default edit page for a device or server opens.
2. In the User field, click the search icon to display a list of available users.

To remove an associated user, clear the User field.

3. Select one user, then click Select to close the list and set the device user.
4. Click Save to save the change. The default view for a device or server page opens, showing the updated User.
