Account Types

FlexNet Operations categorizes accounts into four account types. On the Manage Accounts page, each of these account types has its own tab: Producer, Customer, Partner, and Self Registered.

Account types
Type	Description
Producer	The account for the software publisher or intelligent device manufacturer. Producers can also create sub-accounts to their producer account.
Customer	The category of accounts that are the end users of your software or device. This category includes PORTAL_ORG_UNIT—the default account that maps to users who choose to self-register through the End-User Portal.
Partner	The category of accounts that are distribution partners, like wholesalers, distributors, resellers, and retailers. Producers can map their distribution tiers by defining their distribution partners as partner accounts. These accounts then play a special role in FlexNet Operations.
Self Registered	This category includes users who self-register by logging in to the portal with an entitlement ID or activation ID and set up a their own user account. Optionally, users can select to be associated with an existing Self-Registered account by providing the account ID upon self-registration, instead of creating a new account.
